The titular track also provides an almost unnoticeable transition into the second song on the album, “Birds.”Īlthough I like the entire album, my favorite song is “Up&Up.” This is the last song on A Head Full of Dreams and I think it’s the perfect way to end the album. As the vocals come in and develop, a beautiful dynamic of sparking guitar riffs and uplifting music takes flight. One of my favorite songs from A Head Full of Dreams is the track for which the album is named, “A Head Full of Dreams.” The song opens the album with a gradual build of invigorating synth, followed by percussion and an upbeat bass line.

The music by itself is even wonderful, and is reminiscent of Mylo Xyloto (the album featuring “Paradise” and “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall”). The new album did not disappoint – the lyrics are superb, featuring many different examples of vivid images and symbolism. Their prior album, Ghost Stories, left me disappointed and wanting more of the “real” Coldplay sounds and qualities that I love. The colorful cover art also allows the listener to let their imagination soar as they listen to the upbeat tracks of A Head Full of Dreams.Ī Head Full of Dreams is, in my opinion, one of Coldplay’s greater successes. Overall, there are positive and uplifting tones throughout the album that are guaranteed to leave the listener feeling great. Out of all of Coldplay’s albums, I definitely think that A Head Full of Dreams is one of the best ones to listen to from start to finish. Rumors have shown that this could potentially be Coldplay’s final album, which would sadly make sense given that they have been creating music for almost two decades. A Head Full of Dreams debuted just under two months ago, in December 2015. That is one of my favorite songs, but today’s post will be more about their brand new album, A Head Full of Dreams. You may recognize their first catchy single “Adventure of a Lifetime” or the newly released single, “Hymn for the Weekend.”Īll of Coldplay’s albums are different and have their own styles, strengths and weaknesses, which really showcases the band’s diversity. As my first post of the semester, I think it would be fitting to discuss my favorite band, Coldplay.
